🌿 Inspiring Visit of Dr. Elangovan – A Scientist & Gandhian Leader
We were deeply honoured to welcome Dr. Elangovan of Kutumbakkam to our home on 22.02.2026. A scientist and a true Gandhian in thought and action, he has dedicated his life to rural development and community empowerment.
Dr. Elangovan served as the President of Kutumbakkam village for 10 years, during which he initiated transformative changes that brought recognition and several awards to the village. Even today, he continues to work tirelessly for sustainable rural development in various innovative forms.

🌱 Visit to the Hydroponic Unit
Earlier, on 08.02.2026, we had the privilege of visiting his hydroponic unit in Kutumbakkam along with Mr. Udayan and his family. We were particularly keen to learn about the hydroponic system he successfully runs in a small rural setup.
The visit provided us with valuable technical insights and practical knowledge. More importantly, it gave us the confidence to establish a similar hydroponic unit at Arivuthottam in the near future.
📚 Mobile Education for Rural Children
One of his most remarkable initiatives is conducting mobile classes through specially designed buses that cover 7 villages.
Students from 3rd to 8th standard benefit from these sessions, where lessons are converted into PowerPoint presentations and explained in a clear and engaging manner. This initiative is bridging educational gaps and empowering rural children with quality learning opportunities.
☀️ Value Addition & Solar Innovation
Dr. Elangovan has also established a solar dryer unit and other supportive facilities for producing value-added products. These initiatives create economic opportunities for villagers while promoting sustainable practices.
🤝 Impact on Arivuthottam & Makkal Nala Santhai
After sharing our experience with the Makkal Nala Santhai (MNS) team, they expressed strong interest in visiting the hydroponic unit to gain firsthand knowledge. Our MNS team is now planning a visit shortly.
We strongly believe that our continued association and upcoming visit will significantly contribute to reshaping and strengthening Arivuthottam’s future initiatives.
